Louth Hosts European Badminton Event

On the afternoon of Sunday the 26th of September, The Marshes Shopping Centre in Dundalk will host the Opening Ceremony for the 2010 European Seniors Badminton Tournament. Each year, this tournament sees the top players from around Europe compete during the week long competition across age groups from 35+ in male and female singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

Ireland has been selected to host the tournament for 2010, with Dundalk, Co. Louth awarded the venue. Oriel Park, home to the Premier League football club Dundalk F.C. are providing the facilities in their new state of the art indoor training arena. Following a refit to accommodate the requirements of international standards Badminton, this venue is sure to excite and inspire competitors and spectators alike.

As the home nation, Ireland is putting forward a sizeable squad consisting of players across the 32 counties. All experienced, many are familiar with international competition, having been regulars at European and World events over their Badminton career.

This event is a huge undertaking to manage and the organising team are currently looking for volunteers to assist as line judges. This is an excellent opportunity to get the best seats in the house and be part of one of the largest international sports competition to be hosted in Ireland this year.
