The following are the rules of the County Louth Badminton Association for the 2007/08 season:

The management of the League and Cup will be in the hands of the Management and
Fixtures Committee, which is elected annually.

The Committee will have the power of enforce all rules governing county
competitions and to decide on any matters not provided for in these
regulations. It will also investigate any irregularity or breach of regulation
coming under its notice whether or not a formal protest in the matter has been
made.

Only clubs affiliated to the Leinster or Ulster branches and who have paid the
appropriate entrance and affiliation fees will be eligible to play in the
County League and Cup competitions.

4.
In all sections, teams will consist of 2 Men and 2 Ladies, playing 1 Mens
Doubles, 1 Ladies Doubles and 2 Mixed Doubles. Each player will play a doubles
and a mixed doubles. Teams must be named
in order of merit and any substitute must replace the player not playing.

5.
A player having played on a team may not play on any other team within the same grade.
Â
6.
All teams and substitutes must be named and submitted to the County Secretary
together with the appropriate affiliation fees before the competition begins.

7.
All fixtures will be made by the Club Secretaries and a copy of the fixtures
must be sent to the Result Secretary. Fixtures may only be cancelled with
permission from the executive committee. A 2 week period of grace is allowed
for changes to be made from the date fixtures are made.

8.
Any club which gives false information on any matter will be liable, at the
discretion of the Management Committee, to have their team disqualified from
county competitions.

9.
All League and Cup matches must be completed by the dates fixed by the Club
Secretaries. All matches must be played at the arranged venues.

10.
All competitions must be played with feather shuttles.
Â
11. To be eligible to play in county
competitions a player must be:
A. Registered and Graded by the Management Committee.
B. Affiliated to the Leinster or Ulster branches of the B U IÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â through the club with which they
play.Â
C. Not have represented any other club in the competition in
the     current season in the same
grade, including Inter League competitions.

All objections and appeals should be submitted in writing to the Management
Committee. The Committee will exercise the right to take any disciplinary
action it deems necessary.

13.
Where a player is unable to complete his or her games due to injury or illness
the game or games must be conceded. Matches must be completed on the agreed
date and follow on matches are not allowed.

1 A match shall consist of the best
of three games.

2 A game shall be won by the side
which first scores 21 points, except as provided in 14.4 and 14.5.

3 The side winning a rally shall add
a point to its score. A side shall win a rally, if the opposing side commits a
“fault†or the shuttle ceases to be in play because it touches the surface of
the court inside the opponent’s court.

4 If a score becomes 20-all, the
side which gains a two point lead first, shall win that game.

5 If the score becomes 29-all, the
side scoring the 30th point shall win that game.

6 The side winning a game shall
serve first in the next game.

7 Players shall change ends at the
end of the first game, at the end of the second game, if there is to be a third
game; and in the third game when a side first scores 11 points.

15.
The Captain of the home team must within
5 days of a match forward a copy if the results sheet to the County
Secretary, retaining the original for himself. Each team must complete and
exchange a Result Sheet at the start of each match. Results sheets must contain
the following information:
    Date on which match took place.
    Match starting time.
    Number of games won and lost.
    Score in each game.
    Signatures of both Captains.

Any club or team member is entitled to appeal any ruling of penalty imposed by
the Management Committee.

17.
Proper badminton attire must be worn during play; tracksuits may only be worn
while warming up.

18.
New players (ungraded) will be assessed and may be regarded after 3 matches.
Clubs and teams are expected to abide by the spirit of the competition. Failure
to do so may result in points being forfeited.

19.
No club may enlist/affiliate a player that currently plays for another club
without prior permission in writing from the players club. Where a club gives
permission to a player to play with another club, the player cannot play at the
same grade for his or her own club.

20.
Any player who has played in the JUVENILE LEAGUE must play at DIV 4 or higher
and any players who have been a SQUAD MEMBER in the Juvenile League must play
at DIV 3 or higher.

21.
Players will be graded by the Club Secretaries at the annual grading meeting.
Secretaries are expected to be as fair as possible when proposing grades for
players. Players joining throughout the year can be upgraded at any secretaries
meeting. Players can be downgraded as well as upgraded.

22.Players
are graded and allocated points within that grade. Each team cannot exceed the
maximum no of points for that team. See attached details..

23.
Any new player must provide details of past experience in playing badminton and
where available, B U I history.
Â
24.
The term office for each executive committee member will be no greater than 5
years with option to extend with committee approval.
Â
25.
A player must be 14 by 1st January of that year to play in the Cup,
League/Tournament. Exceptions may be made on consultation with the Committee
and with permission from their parent.

26.
If a player who is not affiliated plays, that player looses any points they
have won.
